Welcome. This is a very old photo of me, but I really like it and as long as I can get away with it, it’s staying.

There is a very good chance that you ended on this blog because you already know me. (Apologies for that.)

Second option: you googled some old song and got redirected here and are wondering what the hell just happened. (Apologies for that too.)

BUT on the odd chance that you are looking for travel tips that are not always straightforward, not always delivered in a nice and respectful manner, often very confused, but always authentic, you are in the right place. Or rather, appropriate.

As a form of introduction, and for an easier navigation, a little bit of timeline/history of this blog.

June 2016 – I bought a real camera. As a way of coping with a particulary harsh break-up. (It was harsh on my ego more than anything else, the gentleman in question did everything correctly). See, everytime a relationship ends, I take a new hobby. This time I must have been in a particularly nasty mess, because I bought an Olympus Pen F, took photography and editing software courses, bought a laptop (because there is little sense in having a big bad camera if you then don’t bother to develop the photos. That year I also trained and succesfully certified as a sommelier, which at least is a far more useful way of coping with the consequences of poor romantic decisions.

June 2017 – after 5 years of living and working in London, coming close to developping an eating disorder and flirting with thoughts so dark I dare not repeat them here, I resigned from my City job, bought a round-the-world ticket, an went to see the world.

Covid happened sometimes around here. This is where the blog becomes more personal, at times political. Again, if you are here, you probably know me and are aware that I am very vocal about a lot of things, including my worldview. You know what to expect, or you can imagine that. And in case your opinion and mine are unreconcilable, this is also the period I was on Tinder, which provided some of the best writing material on this blog, so at least you can have a laugh.
